                                                         Our Dining Room awaits you

We created our Dining room space in our tasting room for our Foodie events and also special occasion requests. Tonight the request was to celebrate Spring and the side note ' a Birthday '. All arrangements are catered to the specific group. Almost anything may be arranged.

May 2023 menu for 14 guests

Special flowers from the garden of the host we placed on table for a personal touch.

We started with bubbles prior to seating and then the 1st course of asparagus soup was served. We chose to pair this course with our newly bottled 2022 Viognier. The asparagus soup was prepared with lemon and dairy free other than a garnish of parmesan cheese. Great start to a celebratory evening of friends.

2nd course we served a 2013 Chardonnay from magnum, a favorite of the host. With this wine a salad course, meyer lemon vinaigrette, warm goat cheese with toasted hazelnuts and pecans, avocado garnish.

Time to move into reds.
Eggplant parmesan is a house favorite and we love to pair it with our Cab Franc. Tonight we offered our newly released 2021 Grenache and also the new vintage 2019 Cab Franc. They were both a huge hit and the dish!!! Recipe being added to our web site.

Main course, a Pinot perfect dish. Local Liberty Duck seared breast with duck fat mashed potatoes.
2014 Bohemian Vineyard Pinot Noir and a taste of our 50 case production 2020 Bohemian Vineyard Pinot. The 2014 was perfect! Tough to beat a nicely aged Pinot!

We like to finish with something sweet and this dessert was not too sweet, ginger cake. The birthday boy loves ginger.

Another happy crowd with full bellies and smiles on their faces.

Interested in celebrating a private event in our dining room? Give us a call or email. We have done business events, family dinners, weddings....you name it, we'll do it.

                                                                     cheers!

                                                            2023 CRAB Season

Even though we were lucky enough to get a taste of the crab season in late November 2022, the commercial season didn't officially begin until December 31st and even then with a challenging start. The weather made it very difficult for boats to get out with crazy rains until mid January. Just in time for our kick off to the foodie season in our dining room, the rains subsided and thus the Crab Dinner was officially on and sold out.

The 1st event for 2023 sold out in 3 days, and an exciting line up of guests that many have never attended one of our very limited dinners. Always fun to have long standing club members and new ones that are excited to join the fun.

To start our 2023 events off, 16 people and 5 courses of local dungeness crab from our beautiful Sonoma Coast all paired with PMV wines. 2021 Rose' of Pinot Noir, 2014 Chardonnay Magnums and 2018 TNT Vineyard Pinot Noir were the 3 wines lined up with each course.

For each course of the evening, we never had one wine 100% unanimously chosen as the best pairing.
With the bisque ( richly creamy with chucks of crab meat ) the group strongly chose Chardonnay although both Rose' and Pinot Noir were preferred by some. When I tasted the bisque the next day, my choice was Rose'. We always say,  " it's subjective, there is no wrong or right answer."

Crab salad with avocado meyer lemon vinaigrette was thoroughly enjoyed. A full cup of fresh crab meat, oh yes what a treat! Chardonnay was the big winning wine for this course as well.
2014 Chardonnay from Weeks Vineyard was our final Chardonnay produced to date. This exceptional vineyard produces high acid, rich fruit and from magnum with age, this wine is truly wonderful.
And it was clearly enjoyed by the group.

Third course and always a favorite, crab cakes served with blood orange vanilla sauce. The table was again divided on wine choice. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were favored with a few votes for Rose' but Pinot Noir won the total count.
When I tasted the dish the next day, I added quite a bit of the sauce which I felt went best with the Rose'. The sauce is really what would change the wine pairing.

Mat's organization and timing in the kitchen could not have been more dialed in. He loves to cook, plate and design menu's. To have such a seamless evening be our 1st of 2023, we felt truly Thankful for our crew of diners that appreciated the amount of work involved. The applause when Mat entered the Dining Room was a delight!

Our favorite crab preparation, recipe on the web site, roast crab. This is the 1st dish Mat prepared for me when we were dating. All I can really say is that the ooo's and ahhh's that come from everyone who tastes this explains just how good it is. With Nightengale baguette to dip in the olive oil sauce, it's a dish to dream about. And pairs so well with all of these wines. Although TNT Pinot Noir won the first place wine to pair.

We love to finish off with a little sweet treat which we call Crab Dessert. A sugar cookie in the shape of a crab. Perfect finish.

This very specific drawing had to be shared and maybe framed. The message is clear that Mat's love of making Chardonnay needs to return to our line up of wines.

A toast to 2023, our 1st event of 2023 and many of our club members that experienced our Foodie Dinner for the 1st time. Another great night, more loyal dining campanions, friendship and cheers to food and wine.

That's a wrap till next month.
Our plans for 2023 have not been completed but as soon as they are, you'll be the first to know.
cheers

       Tasting Room 10th Anniversary Celebration

September 1st 2012 we received the keys to the Tasting Room location at 9060 Graton Road. For 2 months during the harvest season as Mat worked at creating another incredible vintage of our wines, Barb was creating the space that we are celebrating 10 years of business. The best decision of our life.

November 3rd 2012 we opened the doors. Our very 1st customer had no idea that her cash purhase was our very 1st dollar and 1st customer. Still on display at the tasting bar.

40 of our beloved wine club members joined us to celebrate the momentous occasion with a 6 course dinner and many many large format wines all from the library.

One of many traditions, the reception has a large wedge of cheese, this year one of the best local cheeses from Valley Ford, Estero Gold. 9.6 pound wheel.

Cambozola and fig pizzettas and our 2017 Blanc de Noir.

The emotional toast that included a scrap book of photos from the 10 year journey and the facts of  some of so many special occasions that include 3 weddings, 3 rehearsal dinners, babies and introductions of friendships and lifelong relationships!

1st sit down course, potato leek soup with a droplet of caviar paired with 2012 Chardonnay double magnum. For many the favorite course and pairing, especially Chardonnay lovers!

2nd course salad with avocado, pecans, vinaigrette with 2013 Chardonnay double magnum

3rd course, butternut squash ravioli with 2013 Bohemian Vineyard from double magnum. Our 1st vintage producing Bohemian was 2012.

Main course and wine pairing - Osso Buco with 2009 Ruxton Pinot from a 5 litre bottle ( Imperial size ) The 1st of this size that Mat bottled and opened.

To complete the dinner a trio of mignardise was personally selected. Mat's favorite coconut macaroons, Barbs homemade peanut butter cookies and locally made chocolates from Fleur Savage.

The after party included the magnum of 1985 port that was a wedding gift from Mat's bestie from MI.

Mat & Barb could not be more proud of the Paul Mathew Wine Club Family that keeps growing.
The relationships and enjoyment exchanged at the Dining Room tables at 9060 Graton Rd.
A perfect Tasting Room location to celebrate!

Cheers to you all for assisting in the success!
